The Peninsula County Exploratory Committee is a civic organization conducting a structured, lawful evaluation of county formation for the Peninsula region.
The Peninsula County Exploratory Committee exists to evaluate, advocate for, and, if warranted, organize the lawful formation and implementation of the proposed Peninsula County. Our work is grounded in constitutional process, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to responsible and responsive local governance for the communities of Gig Harbor, Fox Island, the Key Peninsula, and the surrounding islands and unincorporated areas.
The Peninsula County Exploratory Committee is composed of residents, civic participants, and concerned citizens of the Peninsula region who share a commitment to lawful, data-driven governance reform.
The Committee is in its exploratory phase. Our work is analytical and preparatory. We are not currently conducting a petition drive. Before any formal petition effort is initiated, the Committee must determine that constitutional requirements can be met and that the proposed county is legally and fiscally viable.
We welcome participation from individuals across the political spectrum who share a commitment to responsible local governance grounded in law and evidence.
This effort is not a reactionary movement. It is not an attack on Pierce County leadership or institutions. It is not affiliated with any political party, and it is not motivated by any single event or grievance.
The Committee's work is structural and civic in nature. We are evaluating whether geographic reality, representation, and service delivery are best aligned under the current county structure — and whether the constitutional process for county formation offers a viable remedy.
