Explore the 64 voting precincts comprising the proposed Peninsula County boundary. Use the layer toggles and filters to examine different aspects of the region. Additional data layers will be added as research progresses.
This map displays voting precinct boundaries as sourced from Pierce County GIS data and reflects the proposed Peninsula County formation area. Boundary data is provided for informational and civic engagement purposes and does not represent a final or legally binding boundary determination.
The fire district and park district layers show the three fire protection districts (FPD No. 5, 16, and 27) and three park districts (Peninsula Metropolitan, Key Peninsula Metropolitan, and Anderson Island) that serve the proposed county area, sourced from Pierce County Elections precinct district records (January 2026). The property value layer displays median taxable assessed value by precinct using real parcel data from the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer (2025).
The preliminary commissioner districts layer shows a hypothetical equal-population boundary scenario for illustration purposes. The three districts were drawn to respect the natural geography of the formation area: District 1 covers the northern precincts (north of Gig Harbor proper), District 2 covers central and Gig Harbor precincts, and District 3 encompasses the Key Peninsula and southern portions of the area. The Key Peninsula forms a natural geographic unit connected to the mainland at its northern end. Population was estimated by counting residential parcels in each precinct from Pierce County Assessor data and multiplying by the county's average household size of 2.54 (2020 U.S. Census). The districts range from approximately 24,000 to 25,500 residents each, within 3% of the ideal population of approximately 24,800, consistent with the equal-protection standards courts apply to legislative apportionment. These boundaries are illustrative only and would require a formal redistricting process if Peninsula County were formed. Residents with relevant GIS data or corrections are encouraged to contact the Committee.
