Information for journalists, reporters, and media organizations covering the Peninsula County feasibility effort.
The Peninsula County Exploratory Committee (PCEC) is a civic organization evaluating the feasibility of forming the proposed Peninsula County under Washington's constitutional framework. The Committee is reviewing signature requirements, legislative procedures, fiscal sustainability, and institutional responsibilities associated with county formation. If research demonstrates viability, the Committee will advocate for and organize the lawful initiation of the process required to establish Washington's 40th county. The proposed boundary includes Gig Harbor, Fox Island, the Key Peninsula, and surrounding islands and unincorporated communities.
The Peninsula County Exploratory Committee is an independent civic organization. It is not affiliated with Pierce County or any governmental agency. The Committee is currently in the research and feasibility phase. No petition effort has been initiated. Any formal petition effort will comply with Washington's constitutional and statutory requirements.
